The debut album YOU KNOW I AM, Ainsley Costello, released March 6, 2020.
Nashville artist Ainsley Costello has announced the release of her debut album, You Know I Am, Ainsley Costello. Released on March 6, 2020 her original debut work is described as country/pop.
15-year old Ainsley Costello has been pursuing music since the age of 12. Born in Sarasota, Florida, Ainsley moved to the Seattle area in 2015 where she found a vibrant youth music scene where she could learn and master her craft. Between 2016 and 2019 Ainsley performed over 100 shows in 6 states, including (WA, OR, CA, UT, FL, and TN). Notable performances include NAMM 2019, 2020, Americana Fest, Bite of Seattle, and Taste of Tacoma.
As the daughter of a musician who toured extensively in the 90’s, Ainsley was drawn to music at a young age. In 2019 she convinced her parents to move her to Nashville to pursue music full time. At the age of 16 Ainsley attends online high school as well as taking classes at Berklee College of Music Online with a goal of obtaining a Music Business Degree by the time she is 20.
Her debut album took several years to compile, but with the help of numerous professional musicians from across the country, she released a compelling first work. Heavily influenced by traditional Country artists; Taylor Swift, Caitlyn Smith, Kelsea Ballerini, and Cam, Ainsley has also taken inspiration from genre-benders like Sara Bareilles, John Mayer, Tori Kelly and others.
There is a strong girl-power theme to her catalog. Songs like Dumb Blonde, You Know I Am, and Waste my Time, are definitely reminiscent of a teenage Taylor Swift.
Often compared to Taylor Swift Ainsley has learned to embrace this huge compliment but has also looked to define who she is as an artist without the comparison. Ainsley says,
“I’m so flattered by this, every time I get this compliment it makes me feel great, but the truth is I want to be the first Ainsley Costello, not the next Taylor Swift.”
You Know I Am, has a strong, underlying motivational message for teenage girls. It’s about Ainsley being who she is at this 15-year-old moment in time. No more no less.
“My hope for this album is that inspires girls everywhere to know that we are more than what the world tells us we can be.
